When we think about the increasing environment of Technology in Marine security we can remember the last weekdays of November 2008. No one can forget the tragedy of 26th November of 2008. India was shocked and keep eye on Mumbai. India's financial capital was bleeding because some of the Pakistani terrorists were inter in the boundaries of our nation from the Marine route. More than 200 people were killed and many more were wounded in that particular tragedy of 72 hours. We lost some of our brilliant security personnel in that tragedy like Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mr. Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte, and Vijay Salaskar. These are some glorious jewels in the necklace of the Indian security forces. The only terrorist found alive was Ajmal Amir Kasab who was letter hang Till death by the order of the court.
That story was not closed just by the punishing of Kasab. Another chapter of security construction started on that day in India. several changes and amendments were made in the constitution as well as in the security guidelines and boost the technology in the security of our Marine security as well as upgrade the types of equipment and Technology used in the Marine security.
Recently a lot of improvements in security schemes are come into existence especially for small-size boats, for example, establishing the transponder device on boats having a height of fewer than 20 meters. In the first phase of this scheme around 5000 small boards will cater to these transponder devices. For the rest, all the ships or boards that are more than 20 m in height are equipped with special automatic identification systems already. We are using the vehicle management system to make the transport much more secure and its two communication and last year we examine the test by ISRO satellite. The government of India is distributing special identity cards to each of the boat cru members and staff which is biodata enable and for the verification of those cards security agencies are acute with special card readers. India is a country that has more than 7500 km of coastal boundary India's 9 states are coastal States out of 4 metro cities three are coastal areas full stop if we calculate the entire business of India by volume 95% is only made through the Marine ways and more than 60% by the value full stop so the security of our Marine resources become one of the top most priority for the nation recently SEA-VIGIL exercise's 3rd edition took place on 15th to 16 November 2022 with full of modern technology and types of equipment. This exercise is the biggest naval exercise in India. This operation is exercised by every 2 years. There are lots of opportunities for the student of our nation to take a leadership role and innovate new solutions to our border security problems involvement of Technology can reduce the risk of terror from our neighboring countries can be reduced up to a great extent. India shares its border with China Bhutan Pakistan Nepal Bangladesh Afghanistan and among them especially China and Pakistan do have not such a good relationship as compared to others we have stories of War between India and Pakistan as well as India and China. There is a huge opportunity for the student who makes their career in Marine security Technology and they can support our nation with their innovative ideas.
