Self Growth

It is a process that allows one to expand one’s abilities by evaluating their attitude, reactions and behavior. It can positively affect one’s carrier and personal life. Self growth is important for everyone as there is at least one habit definitely which each one of us would like to change for ourselves. It is possible to change and grow as a person through dedicated effort and a realistic approach. This can lead to make you a better employee, coworker, manager, partner, parent, child, student or a friend. By working on those points which we need to improve, we can positively affect many aspects of our life. A few common self growth practices which can be considered are as follows:

Meditation:  It has a calming effect that gives a break from the day to day tensions and results into being more productive and improved focus on important things. It gives us the state of inner joy resulting in a relaxing mode where we can enjoy whatever we do and feel satisfied.

Reading:  It is a great way to promote self growth. If one has identified the areas of improvement, he or she can probably find books related to that or an article on that topic. There are books available on self growth. Also the learning can be done within the pages of a fiction or nonfiction work.

Finding a coach:  A coach can be particularly helpful if one is not sure where to begin with or what specifically one needs to change. Depending upon the area of improvement a coach can be very beneficial. Working with a career coach, creativity coach, financial coach, productivity coach or any such coach who can be beneficial can be considered.

Sharing goals:  Sharing your goals with friends and family can help you to grow. For e.g. if one has to start exercising it would be better if one may find people around them who would like to join. Even if one has a negative behavior people around can gently keep on reminding for the same.

Caring for self: Self care is an important part of self growth. It can be a hot water bath, a massage or just a hot coffee on a couch. It shows you value yourself and improves your inner feeling towards your own self.

Affirming words:  These are words or phrases that reinforce positive feelings or beliefs in one’s own self. Examples are such as “I am happy with what I have”, “I am not guilty for the things happening around me”, or “I can do better”.

Celebrating success: Celebrating success of any type releases positive chemicals in the body encouraging a person to seek more positive results in future. The reward for oneself need not be huge as long as it is seen as a celebration of success.
