Lucknow: Post-Unlocking

Lucknow: Post-Unlocking

Year 2020 was most dramatic and life threatening year for each and every person living on this planet. It changed our lives drastically. Year 2020, besides giving us dreadful Sars covid-19 virus, gave us another bombshell – ‘Lockdown’.

On March 24, 2020, Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, announced a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, declaring that there will be a demarcation of people meeting each other under a close proximity, and a mandatory restriction on all unrequired services and travelling. Well, this did play a slow but good impact on the reduction of the proliferation of the pandemic.

Anticipating the slowed growth rate, Uttar Pradesh Government, from June 7, proceeded towards ‘Unlocking’ the ongoing Lockdown, and announced relaxations in 55 districts of UP. Personally, I believe that this step, taken by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was obligatory, as the Lockdown, which was unplanned and poorly conceived, adversely affected a huge number of people.

‘Unlock 5.0’ has been already set in motion, provided there is no change in safety measures and guidelines. Unlock 5.0, after 15 Oct, 2021 will be unlocking many more surprises like reopening of schools and colleges in the districts which are less contaminated. Reopening of cinemas and theatres with half the hall capacity will be permitted.

But does reopening mean it is safe to go outside again? Well, the elderly, people with comorbidities, pregnant women, children below the age of 10, are still advised to stay at home, ‘Prevention is better than cure’ isn’t it?

Lastly and importantly, if you have urgency to leave your home for work, make sure you have best sanitization help and protection along with you. This way, you are not only saving yourself, but also saving your loved ones.
