There exists good and bad side of technology
since its inception. In modern times schools and colleges have already adopted
the use of technology for providing a great learning experience to the students.
Technological inclusion has mainly amplified during and post covid period.
However, because of technological assistance, students were kept connected with
the studies since all the institutions were closed for a long period of time
due to the mayhem caused by covid. Hence, subsequently institutes began
adopting technological means of teaching in classroom.
The GOOD
I have often referenced the diverse
evidence surrounding mixed learning, which combines traditional classroom
instruction with technology to utilize real-time data, tailor instruction to
individual needs, and allow for mastery-based advancement. Integrating
technology into lessons in accordance with effective in-person teaching methods
can enhance learning outcomes compared to teaching without technology.
Participation of students in classroom has also increased since the lectures
get visually impressive with the use of technology. Lately
many ongoing researches have shown the impact of technology on improving student’s
classroom performance, skills and practical knowledge.
The BAD
On the other side, this has increased the screen
time of students beyond the permissible time for different age group of
children. Neurological changes have been experienced in students because of
constant use of devices such as laptops, computers, mobile phone etc. It has
been explored that human interaction might decline due to the relentless use of
devices because it can act as a substitute of a person. It may also be damaging
to the physical, emotional and social development of students.
However, we shall be mindful of the technology used
in the classroom so that it shall be valuable to the students. Its limit must
be set by the educator so that it does not takes over the role of a teacher and
also does not increase the dependency on technology.
