Life is challenging and to deal with this
is even more challenging for an individual, if any of the life skill is missing
or not learnt or not practiced. World Health
Organization (W.H.O) recommended ten core life skills
important for healthy growth of an individual. They are-
1. Empathy(for successful relationship with our loved ones and
society)
2. Self –awareness (recognition of self, strengths & weaknesses etc.)
3. Critical thinking (analyzing information and taking decisions thereafter)
4. Creative thinking(for generating new ideas or procedures to accomplish any
objective)
5. Problem solving(finding solutions constructively)
6. Decision making(in correlation with its effect on life and goal)
7. Interpersonal relationship(the positive way of socializing and connecting with
people)
8. Coping with emotions(controlling of emotions for attracting positive vibes)
9. Coping with stress(how to deal with the illusion of something wrong within
me)
10. Effective communication(expressing and responding in accordance with our culture
and society)
Students seeking for personal growth needs
to start analyze, learn and practice all the cores mentioned in the list for a
fruitful life. There is a possibility that some skills are naturally inbuilt in
an individual and some are missing, therefore identifying the missing one and
working on it with self help or with the help of mentor becomes important.
