Indian
constitution is considered one of the most detailed one, which has been devised
after extensive considerations for all members of the society. It was one of
the rare constitutions which provided equal rights to both the genders. Voting
rights have been accorded to women as a part of the constitution; all the
rights which have been mentioned in the constitution are intended for all
sections of society irrespective of caste, class, creed or gender. Nearly
eight decades since the Independence, and India being touted as the third
largest economy and yet only within a span of just over a decade the largest
democracy repeats one of the most shameful acts, from Nirbhaya to Kolkata rape
and murder case we have moved no further than the hunters and gathers who used
to kill or use violence to attain their intended desire. All
the policies are in place for safety and security of women in India; however it
requires a great political will to put policy into performance it would require
all social will, political will and a great determination from the people of
India to eliminate policy paralysis and convert policy into performance.
