More and more electric cars will be seen on the roads of the
country in the coming time. Many electric cars will be introduced at the Auto
Expo to be held in the country and some have already happened. Electric cars
are said to be promising in terms of the environment. These cars are carbon-free.
The batteries of these cars are equipped with Lithium-ion. It is important to
know here whether electric cars and the batteries used in them really protect
against pollution.
Electric cars do not have an 'internal
combustion engine' like petrol and diesel cars. These cars run on fuel
cells, which generate electricity from hydrogen and lithium-ion. Each cell has
positive electrodes, which have a high concentration of lithium and cobalt.
Along with this, there are also negative electrodes in these cells, in which
the quantity of graphite is high. Atoms process between the electrodes of these
cells, which give power to the motor. Electric cars make less noise and also
reduce the risk of pollution. Also, these cars do not require periodic repairs
like petrol, diesel, or CNG engine-driven cars.
Like petrol and diesel-powered cars, electric cars also do not
reduce green emissions. However, in many ways, the batteries in these cars are
not the best for the environment. Actually, electricity is needed to charge
these batteries, which is made from coal-burning and nuclear power stations.
The mining of chemicals for batteries also has a major impact on
the environment, as the water that seeps onto the roads when cars are driven
contains toxic substances. They are not good for the environment.
Recycling of batteries used in electric cars is also a big
problem. At the same time, some industry says that the global supply of cobalt
has already reached a low level and there may be a decrease in its demand in the future as well. It is being told that a lot needs to be developed in battery
cars. Because it takes a lot of time to charge and with this, you cannot travel
a long way at a time. This is to be noted that there will be so many electric
cars by 2028.
The European Commission estimates that by the year 2028, 200
million electric cars will run on the roads. Really huge comings of such cars.
The battery increases the value of electric cars by up to 40 percent. At the
same time, China occupies two-thirds of the world's battery manufacturing
market, but the European Union is expected to increase its share from the
current 3 percent to 25 percent by 2028. We Indians are also proud that we are
also going in the right direction in expanding our EV markets by simultaneously
making our environment clean and cleaner.
