Biofuel
can give new impetus to India in the 21st century. Biofuel can be produced from
edible, non-edible crops and domestic, agricultural waste materials. This can
change the lives of people in rural and urban areas. Biofuel is an
agricultural, environmentally friendly and economical fuel. Biofuel
(biodiesel and biopetrol) production has received considerable attention in the
recent past as biodegradable and non-polluting fuel. Substituting petro-diesel
with Biofuel may reduce air emission, increase the domestic supply of fuel, and
create new market for agriculture. An alternative approach would be one focus
on multi-purpose; short-duration annual crops that can either simultaneously
yield fuel along with food/fodder or can be cultivated in rotation with food
crops, so that there are a lot of opportunities for small formers. The central
policy of Biofuel concerns for creation and protection of environment. The
economic benefits include support to the agriculture sector tremendous
employment opportunities in plantation and processing. Biofuel fuel plays an
important role for the replacement of petro-diesel to eco-friendly fuel.
Various studies showed that pollutants like CO, CO2, SOX,
HC, PAH, PM etc can be reduced by using blended and pure biodiesel. NOX
emissions are increased by using Biofuel.
Biofuel is an environment friendly biofuel since it provide a means to
recycle of CO2; Biofuel does not contribute global warming. Biofuel
is produced from various plant oils like Jatropha oil, Cottonseed oil, Pongania
oil, Palm oils, Rapeseed oil, Castor oil and biomass converted to biofuel
through the process of transesterification and glycolysis and fermentation.
This study is initiated to investigate the potential of jatropha oil and
biomass as source of biofuel. Biofuel can be converted into profitable business
model with the increasing demand for alternative energy. The supply should meet
the everyday demand of the public at strategy point replacing petro-diesel.
This review paper describes the production, its properties, agricultural
benefits, marketing and future potential of Biofuel.
In the coming times, the increasing side effects of global warming can prove to be a threat to the world. Because the increasing temperature of the atmosphere will affect human life, wild animals, forests, agriculture etc. To prevent this, renewable energy will have to be used and produced. Because renewable energy is a pollution-free fuel that can be used to run domestic vehicles, transportation, agricultural instruments, industrial machinery. Farmers will benefit from its production because renewable energy is mainly produced from agricultural crops such as oil seed crops and biomass crops. For the production of renewable energy, small production units will be set up in rural and urban areas, which will create new jobs.
